PackList helps you plan outdoor adventures and track your gear. We built it to need as little personal information as possible. This policy explains what we collect, what we deliberately do not collect, and how we use it.

What we collect

• Trip details — destinations, dates, activities, and preferences you enter to generate pack lists.
• Gear information — items you add to your gear locker, including names, weights, and usage notes.
• Optional measurements — body measurements you choose to provide so pack lists can be sized for you. These are never required.
• Account basics — if you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile image to identify your account.
• Usage data — basic, aggregated information about how the app is used so we can improve it.

What we do not collect

PackList is designed for data sterility. We do not need and do not want sensitive personal information. Our assistant, Kip, will never ask for it, and free-text fields are automatically scrubbed of detected emails, phone numbers, payment card numbers, and similar identifiers before anything is saved. Please do not enter sensitive personal data into trip, gear, or chat fields.

How we use your data

• To generate personalized pack lists and gear recommendations.
• To fetch relevant weather, park, and trail information for your destinations.
• To save your trips and gear when you are signed in.
• To operate, secure, and improve the service.

AI assistant (Kip)

Kip uses your trip context to provide recommendations. Messages are processed by our AI provider to generate responses. For guests, chat history is temporary and is not stored on our servers; for signed-in users, conversations are saved to your account. Kip is instructed never to request sensitive personal information.

Third-party services

We rely on trusted providers to deliver core features, including AI processing, weather and park data, mapping and location search, and payment processing for subscriptions. These providers receive only the data needed to perform their function. Payment details are handled directly by our payment processor; PackList never sees or stores your full card number.

Data retention & your choices

Guest data is temporary and tied to your browser session. For signed-in accounts, your data is kept until you delete it or close your account. You can delete individual trips and gear at any time, or request account deletion by contacting us.

Children

PackList is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
