FAQ
What is PackList?
PackList is a trip planner for the trail. You tell Kip the trip. He lines up the pack list, the weather, the permits, and the stay.
What do I need to bring to survive and execute this specific trip safely?
PackList.online if the goal is an adaptive checklist that accounts for weather, family, or the activity. A short walk stays in chat. Overnight, a group, or a permit park opens the planner.
Who is Kip?
Kip is the trail buddy in PackList. Name the place. He builds the list around the trip and the gear you already own. He is not a booking bot and does not log into Recreation.gov for you.
How do I join PackList?
Join the waitlist at packlist.online/waitlist. When a seat opens you get a code. The code opens Kip. Google sign-in is next.
What is the 2-week trial?
After a seat and sign-in, you get two weeks to plan micro trips and overnight trips. Then Seasonal, Annual, or Forever.
What are PackList tokens?
A token is one Kip lookup or chat turn that hits live weather, permits, fire, or the model. Forever includes a larger pool. Seasonal and Annual refill. Referral tokens are extra lookups, not cash. Three extra weeks for you and a friend are trial time, separate from tokens.
What is Seasonal vs Annual vs Forever?
Seasonal is a 3- or 6-month pass for the months you actually go. Annual is a year of Adventurers. Forever is a one-time LTD. All of them include Kip tokens for lookups. PackList is not a gear store.
What does Ready mean?
Ready is PackList’s trip checklist score: pack list generated, campground confirmed when needed, permits covered, and essentials packed. Close gaps on the pack list page — Kip helps with the open gaps.
Why didn’t Kip ask the 1–7 planning questions on my trip?
When a trip is already open, Kip stays in trip mode and only helps with remaining Ready gaps — it won’t re-interview Goal → Gear.
Kip says it can’t book for me — what can it do?
Kip can’t complete Recreation.gov checkout, but it can give you deep links with your dates and party size so the booking page opens ready to reserve.
Next up scrolled but didn’t open Kip — is that right?
Yes. Next up jumps to the section on the page. Use Help me get Ready or Ask Kip on a card when you want chat help.
Where are my permits?
On the trip pack list under Permits, and in Profile → Permit vault. Linked vault permits count toward Ready.
Google Calendar didn’t add my departure
Connect Google Calendar under Profile → Integrations, then tap Add departure to Calendar again. After OAuth, PackList retries the pending add automatically.
Still stuck? Open Kip from any trip and say “What’s left to get Ready?”
